Dubai unemployment rate at just 0.5% as population crosses 3.5-million mark

According to the most recent Dubai Statistics Centre figures, the city-population state’s surpassed 3.5 million in April.

Despite the Covid-19 epidemic, the Emirate’s population has expanded by over 100,000 since 2020, according to data.

The Emirate’s population has grown because to an inflow of foreigners, particularly high-net-worth individuals, following the effective management of the Covid-19 epidemic.

Because of the robust economic recovery, private enterprises in human-intensive industries such as retail, hospitality, aviation, tourism, and real estate have increased their personnel, resulting in a population growth.

According to the Dubai Statistics Centre, the overall population of the Emirates was 3.478 million at the end of 2021, 3.411 million in 2020, and 3.355 million at the end of 2019.

At the end of last year, females accounted for 1.07 million of the overall population, while men accounted for 2.4 million.

Since 1975, when the local population was just 183,187, the population of the region’s banking and trade Centre has been steadily expanding.

Interestingly, the Emirate’s population did not fall during the 2008 global financial crisis or the Covid-19 outbreak.

Because Dubai was one of the first towns to reopen following the Covid-19 outbreak, many people returned to the city when the economy recovered, and new business and work possibilities became available, luring expatriates from all over the world.

Importantly, despite a constant growth in population, Dubai’s unemployment rate stayed at 0.5%, according to the Dubai Statistics Centre. The Dubai labor force survey findings are used to compute the unemployment rate.

The poll includes all homes and people who are permanent residents of Dubai, regardless of where they work. It has one of the world’s lowest unemployment rates, if not the lowest.
